Tropical Wings is a 501c3 non-profit led by volunteers and based in Hudson. Tropical

Wings was formed in 2014 to support the National Park Service’s sister park agreement
between 14 national parks in the Upper Midwest, including the St. Croix National Scenic
Riverway, and 7 parks on Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula. We are dedicated to education
and habitat restoration for the benefit of the neotropical migratory birds we share with
Costa Rica.

In 2018 Tropical Wings worked with the City of Hudson to become one of over 100 Bird
Cities in Wisconsin. This recognition reflects Hudson’s efforts to protect and manage
green space, landscape with native plants and to reduce threats to birds. This makes our
city friendlier for birds and creates an inviting community where people want to live, work
and visit. The city of Hudson’s webpage has information on our Bird City status, and
includes ideas for homeowners and business owners to take actions to help our birds.

Tropical Wings raises funds through memberships and annual educational trips to Costa
Rica. These funds are used to support habitat restoration projects throughout the St.
Croix Watershed and in Costa Rica through an annual habitat grant program. We are
currently accepting applications from organizations, businesses and individuals for our
2021 habitat grants. Please see our website for application information, the deadline to
apply is March 15.
