Big Band, Crooners and More…
Sponsored by: Hudson Neighbors magazine
The Shaun Johnson Big Band Experience is a rare newcomer to traditional pop by fusing a big band spirit with an inventive edge. It is at once riskier than Bublé and more modern than Sinatra. Johnson is an Emmy award-winning crooner and lead singer of the internationally known vocal group, Tonic Sol-fa.
He indelibly stamps vocal jazz and swing with a contemporary punch – to the delight of both traditionalists and newcomers – emerging as an original voice in the continuing tradition of the American singer.
Johnson’s compositions have been an integral part of more than two million independently sold albums. He has conducted
hundreds of high school and collegiate vocal master classes as well as performed more than 2,500 shows. Johnson has entertained with Jay Leno, been featured in Newsweek, and was seen across the country in the Shaun Johnson Big Band Experience’s first PBS television special, The Spirit of the Season.
The band consists of Aaron Moe, alto and soprano saxophone and clarinet; Ronny Loew, tenor saxophone; Jeff Carver, trumpet and flugelhorn; Dave Stamps, trombone; Theo Brown, piano; Jim Biersma, bass; and David Stanoch, percussion.
