Description
On Saturday, April 11, 2026, St. Croix Valley Opera brings The Magic Flute & The Lost Prince to the black box stage of the Phipps Center for the Arts — with two performances at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. This is the public debut of our brand-new production after touring schools across the Twin Cities Metro and St. Croix River Valley, and it is unlike anything you've seen from us before.
"Mozart's beloved music comes alive in a brand-new adventure created especially for young audiences — blending The Magic Flute with new dialogue, playful humor, and a story about friendship, courage, and learning to listen."
What to expect
This is opera the way it was always meant to be experienced — joyful, alive, and completely accessible. Prince Tamino. The mischievous Papageno. The thunderous Queen of the Night. Mozart's most beloved melodies reimagined in a fresh, interactive format that delights children and surprises adults who think they don't like opera.
Designed especially for first-time opera-goers and families with children in grades 3–6, this production is the perfect introduction to live vocal performance — full of heart, humor, and some of the most beautiful music ever written.
The Phipps is an intimate venue. Seats are limited for both shows. We strongly encourage you to reserve your seats today.
